Max's INBA SA Titles October 4th 2003
This years INBA SA titles were the best yet. A record number of competitors entertained a capacity crowd at the Norwood Concert Hall. The highlights of this years show were the female competitors. The Novice Figure class had seven competitors with the winner, Marieke Bout, a shining light. The Open Figure was just as entertaining with 5 National level competitors. The women are always a treat to watch, they are all beautiful and their routines are so entertaining. The Men's Open Classes were also interesting with a new Champion crowned as two time winner Joel Ramintas choice to sit out this years event.

Coleman Destroys Mr. O Field
Ronnie Coleman, coming in at an unheard of 286 pounds on his 5'11" frame, easily out muscled the rest of the field to unanimously win his sixth consecutive Mr. Olympia title on Saturday, October 25, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
The 39-year-old from Arlington, Texas was 40 pounds heavier than he was last season when he scored a controversial victory over runner-up Kevin Levrone, who bested Coleman in the final two rounds of the show. In 2001, Jay Cutler held the lead over Coleman after the first two rounds before dropping a heavily disputed two-point decision to Coleman when all the final votes were tallied.
Billed as a battle between Coleman, Cutler and Gunter Schlierkamp, last year's fifth place finisher and victor over Coleman at the GNC Show of Strength a few weeks later, this was pretty much over as soon as the massive, yet impressively conditioned, Coleman hit the stage at the pre-judging.
Cutler, who had won his last four shows, including the Ironman Pro, the Arnold Classic and the San Francisco Grand Prix in 2003, was the solid pick for second, with Dexter Jackson, Dennis James and Schlierkamp finishing in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
The biggest surprise of the evening came with an appearance by California's new Governor-elect, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The seven-time Mr. O champion smiled as he told the crowd, "I feel like I'm home again," then praised Joe Weider for bringing him to America. Then, Schwarzenegger individually handed out the 'Olympia competition medals to all 16 men on stage. Later, he and long-time buddy Franco Columbu clowned on stage to the delight of the sold out crowd. Schwarzenegger mimicked Columbu as he was speaking to the fans after being honored with two awards. Franco got the last laugh when he said, "I got two awards, and Arnold got nothing."

Ms Olympia 2003
Lenda Murray won her eighth Ms. Olympia Friday night in Las Vegas, joining Lee Haney as the only other bodybuilder to win eight Olympia titles. Murray successfully defended her crown from a fierce challenge from heavyweight Iris Kyle and lightweight class winner Juliette Bergmann. Murray came out of retirement last year to win her seventh Olympia crown, setting a new record. After the show this year, Murray hinted that she may have competed in her final contest.

New Staff Member
In the past few months, the shop has become extremely busy at times necessitating the need for me to get extra help and to give me some time off after nearly nine years in the industry. This has only been possible with your support, and I thank you for it.
I would like to introduce to you Sean Pualic. Sean is a long time bodybuilder who has competed a number of times in the Natural shows. He has previously worked in the fitness industry and has good knowledge on diet, supplements , and exercise. At the moment Sean will be working 3 days a week (Friday, Saturday, Monday) at Australian Muscle and any other time that I need a break. On these days I might be at the shop or I might not, but I have full confidence that Sean will be able to look after your supplement and training needs.

More Sex Please
According to a summary of sex studies in Forbes, frequent sex (a few times per week) can lead to:
• An improved sense of smell (um, hopefully not just during sex)
• Reduced depression (hey, how sad can you be when you're getting some?)
• Reduced risk of heart disease
• Pain relief (if the wifey says she has a headache, tell her you have the cure right here, baby).
• Fewer colds and cases of the flu
• A healthier prostate

Low Carb Diets (Gasp!) Work
Those who rail against low carb diets say the only reason they work is because you eat less calories while on them. "A calorie is a calorie" in other words.
Now, a new study coming out of Harvard found that people eating 300 extra calories a day on a low carb diet lost just as much weight as those on a low fat diet in the same amount if time. In fact, they lost a few pounds more than those on the regular diet, even though they were eating more.
Dr. Samuel Klein, the president of the American Association for the Study of Obesity, questions the results and calls them "hard to believe."
There you have it, folks, the guy in charge of an obesity study organization still thinks a calorie is just a calorie, and 300 calories worth of tuna is the same as 300 calories worth of french fries.
No wonder North Americans are so damn fat with bozos like this in charge

Lean and Clean CD Rom

"Lean & Clean is the most informative
and professionally presented information
I have seen in Natural Bodybuilding"
Wayne McDonald, Australian President
& World Vice President of the INBA

Keith Sydney Bullock is revered for his ability to walk on stage totally ripped for shows.

With Pro Natural Mr World, Mr Universe and Mr Olympia titles to his credit, his 17 years of bodybuilding experience is worth bottling.
Now with the release of a CDrom titled Lean & Clean, Bullock shares the tips and techniques to getting on stage looking your best.
The CD has more than 500 pages of information including diet, posing, exercise, measuring, travel, preparation, troubleshooting and much more.

Timeline animations of Sydney's progressive fat loss while maintaining muscle show you the dramatic results you can achieve using the techniques he outlines.

Lean & Clean takes the form of a 16-week guide to body transformation, whether that be for personal gain or contest preparation for bodybuilding, bodyshaping or figure modelling. It takes you from 16 weeks out from your target date right through to the minute you step on stage.

It is ideal for men or women, and obviously you don't have to be a competitive athlete to benefit from these principles. It is simple to use - you put it in your computer and it runs automatically.
The "General" section includes all the resources you'll need to complete each stage of the preparation timeline. There are spreadsheets so you can track your progress, great-tasting recipes that are also low in fat and a full reference section to explain any terms you are not familiar with.

You can then make your way through the countdown from 16 weeks, through 12 weeks, 8 weeks, 2 weeks 48 hours and 24 hours, hitting the stage looking totally ripped.

No matter where you are in the lead-up to your "target day" you can benefit from the principles outlined in this CD, so even if you are only a month away, start from there. Of course, although you are coming in late, reading all the preceding information will greatly improve your knowledge and increase your chances of a top performance.

LEAN SYSTEM 7

Lean System 7 is a new dietary supplement scientifically designed to promote rapid fat loss (not to be confused with weight loss, which is normally mostly water and muscle loss). Lean System 7 provides users with a precise synergistic blend of powerful ingredients that have been shown in recent studies to help get and keep you lean - safely and effectively, without the use of harmful stimulants.

Unlike some popular supposed fat-loss supplements on the Australian market, Lean System 7 employs 7 key ingredients that have a legitimate scientific basis for claims made in relation to rapid fat loss. The levels of these ingredients in Lean System 7 are at the highest permissible, rather than taking a shot gun approach with a multitude of ingredients, some at miniscule levels, that will have zero effect on promoting fat loss.

Importantly, the Australian Lean System 7 is manufactured by Cardinal Health, one of Australia's most respected and trusted contract manufacturers of complimentary medicines and pharmaceuticals. Even more importantly, we have demanded the use of specific, patented ingredients - most of which are NOT found in other Australian manufactured products. Two of the key ingredients are manufactured by Sabinsa, a leader in the modern application of standardized Phytonutrient ingredients. Sabinsa has also established itself as a manufacturer and supplier of high-quality fine chemicals and organic intermediates. Most other companies use far cheaper generic ingredients, but not Lean System 7.

ForsLean
ForsLean is a standardized plant extract containing forskolin, a diterpene compound found in nature, and only in the roots of the Coleus forskohlii plant; a member of the mint family of plants. Forskolin is known from literature as a compound with versatile biological actions based on its ability to activate an enzyme known as adenylate cyclase, which leads to an increase in cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). Typically, an increase in cAMP leads to activation of other enzymes, among which is lipase. Lipase disposes of triglycerides, known as building blocks of fatty tissue, which has a positive impact on body composition, increasing lean body mass while trimming the waistline.

Bioperine
Bioperine is a pure piperine extract obtained from black pepper fruits that are cultivated in the damp, nutrient rich soil regions of southern India. The delicate pepper berries are hand harvested just prior to ripening and then sun dried to assure optimum maturity and quality. The extract of piperine, in the patent pending form of Bioperine, has been clinically tested in the United States and shown to significantly enhance the bioavailability of various supplemented nutrients through increased absorption.Piperine, in the patent pending form of Bioperine, enhances the body's natural thermogenic activity - hence the term Thermonutriene. For more info on Bioperine visit: http://www.sabinsa.com/products/bioperin_bro.htm

Some Q & A on taking Lean System 7
Q: How much Lean System 7 do I need to take to make it most effective?
A: For optimal results in reducing bodyfat, we suggest taking 3 capsules, twice per day, 30 minutes prior to meals and/or exercise. Do not exceed 6 capsules per day. Each daily dosage of Lean System 7 has been developed to reach a precise range of supplement amounts, which has been validated by research studies to make it most effective and help users gain its full effects.

Q: Is there an "optimal" time to take Lean System 7?
A: To make Lean System 7 most effective for optimizing results in reducing bodyfat, the "best" time to take the easy-to-swallow capsules is upon rising and/or 30 minutes prior to exercise and meals.

Q: How long does it take for Lean System 7 to take effect? How soon will I see results?
A: Taking Lean System 7 according to the recommended usage instructions, you may "feel" it working relatively quickly, within the first 30 to 45 minutes (but remember, this formula is not an "instant buzz" stimulant but is a specifically targeted fat-loss product)-this "feeling" is the heat-producing ["metabolic-activation"] and fat-burning system taking effect. In addition, most users have claimed to feel the effects, in terms of increased energy, after taking Lean System 7 within the first seven to ten days. And users that have followed a sensible nutrition and exercise program have reported losses of up to 9kg of bodyfat in as little as 12 weeks. But, since individuals differ in body types, so will results.

WHAT'S THE GOSS?

Gossip is sourced from various sites such as muscletime.com, getbig.com, nuclearnutrition.com, ironmagazine.com

The "Whizzinator" Busted!
It's no secret that those wishing to beat an employee or sport-related drug test will try anything. In the old days, all you had to do is smuggle someone else's pee-pee into the stall and make a fast switch-a-roo. Today, some drug testers are required to actually view the "act" to make sure it's the right urine going into the cup.
Enter the Whizzinator, a urine delivery system which looks like a real penis and even comes in different colors to match your skin tone. And yes, there's even a delivery system made for females. The whole system, including a warmer and dehydrated synthetic urine, runs $300:00.
The manufacturer, Puck Technologies, says the product is designed for those who want to keep their private activities, well, private. So far, selling the device has been deemed legal; it's just illegal to use it to beat a drug test (if that makes any sense.)
Now, a Texas court is taking a closer look at the Whizzinator after several Lubbock men were busted using it. The Lubbock County adult probation office said the sound of the fake phallus hitting the cup tipped off the test administrators.
Under Texas law, using a substance or device to falsify drug test results is a Class B misdemeanor, which carries a maximum penalty of 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
Steroid users and pot smokers beware!

Scary!!!

The Dead Pool 2003

Testosterone Magazine has once again come up with the Dead Pool for 2003. Those who don't know, the Dead Pool is a list of bodybuilders who the author thinks is the most likely to die due to their out of control drug use. The names have been changed to protect the guilty, but those in the know can work it out.

Casualties of War
In the time since the Dead Pool last ran in T-mag, the sport of bodybuilding has seen a host of tragedies. Though not all can be directly attributed to steroids or other drugs, odds are they played a role in most, if not all, cases. Here's a rundown.
Immediately after taking top ten in the Mr. Olympia last fall, Orville Burke had an adverse reaction to medication he was given after tearing his triceps during a photo shoot. He subsequently went into a coma for months. Likewise, Nasser El-Sonbatty was conspicuously absent throughout the entire 2003 season due to undisclosed health problems.
While preparing for the Night of Champions, Tom Prince was diagnosed with kidney failure and immediately had to begin dialysis treatments. Flex Wheeler, who insists that his kidney problems are the result of a "hereditary disease" and not steroids, just had a kidney transplant operation.
And it's hard to argue that the inhuman muscle mass which grew too much for tendons to bear had a part in this summer’s muscle tears of three IFBB pros all in training for this year’s Mr. Olympia: Markus Rühl (triceps), Kevin Levrone (also triceps), and Art Atwood (quadriceps).
While these are all unfortunate events, they pale in comparison to the death of amateur super-heavyweight bodybuilder Scott Klein of Illinois. Scott, a handsome young man who was six feet tall, 285 pounds and sported 23-inch arms, passed away this May at just thirty years of age. Scott was never featured in the Dead Pool, but the cautionary tone of the Pool was certainly meant to be heard by those like him. We'd never speak ill of the dead (unless they deserve it) and honestly have no idea if steroids were in any way responsible for his tragically premature demise, but you have to wonder.

Check out the Dead Pool HERE.
