Do You Enjoy Your Training?
Weight training is demanding and extremely hard work. When I reflect on my 20 years of training, however, the one feeling that keeps coming to mind is enjoyment. Many of my non training friends ask me why I still train. Workouts take time, sweat, effort, and discipline, but as far as I am concerned, it's an undeniable fact that they produce genuine, unadulterated enjoyment.
I sometimes wonder (and doubt) whether others feel the same way. It seems that in the last few years, bodybuilding has offered its participants less and less enjoyment and more and more demands for excessive and unrealistic gains. The absolute worship of "bigger this" and "more cut up that", "ripped these", and "awesome those" has made countless bodybuilders slaves to these insane goals.
The real goals of sane bodybuilding are to cultivate all round physical excellence - good health, strength and a fine appearance - along with a sense of well being and self confidence. Why wouldn't someone enjoy an activity that with every workout helps you achieve such goals or maintain your achievement once you reach them? It is only when that activity becomes perverted that it turns into something you do purely to achieve an unenjoyable end. That, I'm sad to say, is what has happened to bodybuilding. When people are prepared to inject life threatening oils into bodyparts to artificially inflate them demonstrates to me a lack of enjoyment to training. Don't let it happen to you!
There are certain truths about bodybuilding and weight training that you must keep in mind if you want to avoid getting caught up in practices that will rob you of the greatest benefits that lifting has to offer.
1. Not everyone can build a great or championship physique.
My personal feeling on this is, so what? Far too many young people are drawn to bodybuilding with the idea that attaining the so called championship body is the only reason. A good analogy would be if you thought that the objective of going to university was to become a world famous scientist holding three Ph.D's. Forget going to university simply to learn or prepare for some other type of career - University is for scientists and degrees. If that sounds crazy, it is. It doesn't make any more sense when you apply the logic to bodybuilding.
2. There is no one on earth who is capable of training with weights who wouldn't benefit from doing so.
Bodybuilding is an activity that benefits the severely handicapped, the elderly, unathletic people who want to get fit, those who have terrible potential but who want to develop what they've got, athletes who want more strength, people who just like the challenge of lifting and anyone seeking a marvelous safety valve to let off steam and reduce stress. Properly done it is the supreme physical fitness activity.
Listen To Your Wife (Girlfriend, Mother)
Four months ago I started to get a sore elbow. It was not too painful at first but it slowly got worse to a point where back and bicep training became virtually impossible. Upon mentioning it to my wife, she told me to "go and see a doctor". Now, my fragile male ego was not going to accept this simple solution. "I'll train around it and it will go away" was my testosterone charged response. The pain progressively got so bad that at times I had trouble turning a doorknob. After months of agony my elbow was no better, and to make it worse, the other elbow was also becoming sore. After months of "go and see a doctor", I dragged my sorry arse to the surgery where I was diagnosed with severe tendonitis of the elbow. I was prescribed a 10 day course of anti inflamotories. My elbow started improving immediately, so fast in fact, that I was tempted to deny any improvement to the missus so as not to endure the "I told you so's". Two weeks after seeing the doctor I was training back and arms pain free.
I endured 4 months of pain and disrupted training all because I thought I knew better. Just recently there was an article on how Australian men are reluctant to see their doctor when there are problems. Don't let this happen to you, if you have a problem, do as my wife would say and "go see a doctor". You never know, they actually might make you better.
Did You Know?
The fastest feat of accelaration at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics was that by weight lifter Paul Anderson in the Jerk. Who says muscles make you slower.

IRONMAN SHORT SHOTS
Lee Priest made short work of getting his impressive body into this year's Mr. Olympia contest, as he finished runner-up behind Cormier. Priest, a tad lighter at 207 pounds than his usual 210-220, was as dry as extra-crispy Kentucky Fried Chicken, which he is intimately familiar with. The good-humored Aussie looked happy and comfortable to be back onstage, and pleased his fans as well.
England's Ernie Taylor wasted no time qualifying for the 2002 Olympia, as he edged surprise phenom Ahmed Haider for third place. Taylor's legs, once his weakest bodypart, is one of his strongest now, proving that working out with Dorian Yates at Temple Gym in Birmingham, England, has its rewards. ET should flutter some hearts at the Arnold, and it will be interesting to see how he fares against Kevin Levrone, Jay Cutler and Dennis James.
Quincy Taylor's pro debut was impressive, but his condition wasn't as tight as it was when he dominated the 2001 USA Championships last year, winning the superheavyweight and overall titles. Still, he wasn't far off, and proved that he can get that big body (6'4", 290 pounds!) in shape on a pro stage. He's for real.
Tommi Thorvildsen (sixth) wasn't his usual ripped self, showing up a little softer than we're used to seeing him, but what amazed onlookers is that even when he's holding a bit of water his glutes are still super-shredded. Glutezilla indeed.
Manhattan bodybuilder Victor Martinez (ninth) showed impressive size and shape at the Ironman, and deserved a higher placing. His lack of cuts hurt him, but if he shreds his billowing musculature, he'll do major damage. He deserves props for packing on plenty of quality mass since he won the 2000 Nationals overall title.

QUIPS AND QUOTES FROM THE ARNOLD
Ernie Taylor (eighth place): "I should have finished in the top six and so, sure, I'm disappointed. There's no way Kevin [Levrone] should have placed fifth."
Lee Priest (fourth place): "Taking fourth secures my stature as one of the top guys in bodybuilding and proves that I'm back and a force to contend with. I was in better shape at the Arnold than at the Ironman and the improvements helped push me up in the call-outs."
Dexter Jackson (third place): "Now I'm being taken seriously by the judges and it's all falling into place for me. With a third place outcome at a show as big as the Arnold I have a legit shot at moving into contender status at the 2002 Mr. Olympia."
Ahmad Haidar (sixth place): "My goal was to qualify for the Olympia, and I'm very pleased that I've achieved that goal."
Chris Cormier (second place): "I'm looking forward to the next three contests [San Francisco, Austria, Australia] after this because I'm going to be eating. The Arnold is the stressful one, where I diet very strictly. It's the one where the money is. I'm going to do the other shows for fun and to win. I'm going to get the other shows, no matter what."
King Kamali (not competing): "The Arnold was kind of boring. Time for the King to get back onstage."

The Perfect Workout?
How many people are constantly searching for the perfect workout that will get them all the gains they have been looking for? Many different associations will claim their system is all you will need. However, the truth is even the best planned and sensible training program will only work for a limited time. The reason for this occurrence is the body is a very smart organism. The body will go through a process known as accommodation. This means the body adapts to the training program and becomes more efficient at performing the workout and the stimulus decreases. That is a great reason plateaus occur. As Strength Coach, Charles Poliquin, says, "a workout is only as good as the time it takes for your body to adapt to it." So, understanding principles such as volume, intensity, density, recovery, and periodization will keep the educated trainer on the right path and the follower plateauing continuously.

Most Powerful Form Of Testosterone Now Available!
Know
anybody (besides a spokesperson for a supplement) that’s
gained any muscle using testosterone based pro-hormones?
Didn’t think so!
But
listen! There’s now a better way to raise your
testosterone levels and you’ll do it naturally! And
what’s more, when you take Vio-Dim you increase the most
powerful form of testosterone.
Please
listen! The most powerful type of testosterone in your
body is called free testosterone. Free testosterone is
"test" that is not bound by Sex Hormone Binding
Globulen.
SHBG
is a protein that binds to over 90% of all testosterone
you produce. That’s right! Less than 10% of your natural
test is working to build muscle. So instead of always
trying to take more synthetic test, doesn’t it make more
sense to "free-up" more of your own.
Well,
now you can, thanks to Vio-Dim an all new anabolic
compound that blocks Sex Hormone Binding Globulen . . .
thus liberating more of your own natural test.
Now
There’s No Need To Take Synthetic Testosterone Again . .
.
Because Your Body Already Makes The Most Powerful Form
Ever Discovered!
Then
why doesn’t everybody look like Mr. America?" Good
question! And you’ll find out once you read this
eye-opening special report that reveals how you can tap
into your own testosterone gold mine that’s been lying
dormant in your body for years . . . the same testosterone
gold mine a bull uses. Yes, a beastly muscular BULL I know
you’re very excited about discovering how to finally
unlock your natural testosterone gold mine . . . but
first, it’s very important that you listen to this
little "introductory story" because it will set
the stage for the incredible revelation you’re about to
be enlightened upon.
In
1905 a preacher named Russell Conwell wrote a book called
Acres of Diamonds. It was a "business success"
type of book, and its central theme was, you don’t need
to move to another country, or state, or town for a
business opportunity to "find you" because
plenty of them are already in your own mind! A new
invention! A better mousetrap! A timely innovation . . .
can all make you extremely wealthy!
It’s
obvious the vast majority of body-builders have never read
this book! Because if they had . . . maybe a spark of
genius would have "illuminated them" into
looking inside their bodies for the most powerful muscle
building compound known . . their very own, naturally
produced testosterone.
Instead,
99% of body-builders look for an "andro this" or
"nor-andro that"! And if they’re a little on
the dangerous side, maybe a little test/cyp or an amp or
two of Sustanon 250 to jack up their test levels.
Make
no mistake! These compounds do work! But, they are far
from safe because they will shut down your nuts if you
stay on them too long. Yeah, you’ll look good . . .
until you take off your jock! Wouldn’t a better option
be to produce more of the most powerful form of
testosterone known, a kind of testosterone every body has
lying dormant in their system!
It’s
Your Best Choice To Get Huge!
Unfortunately though, it’s all "bound up",and
unusable due to a hormone that restricts its flow!
That’s
right! There is a hormone called Sex Hormone Binding
Globulin that restricts 90% of your testosterone from
doing the things it likes to do. Things like cause
unbelievable nitrogen retention, and protein synthesis . .
. in other words . . . build a ton of muscle!
Now,
why do you think a bull is so huge and muscular!
(They’ve got traps that make Dorian’s look like he’s
never done a shrug!) They’re so huge and muscular
because nearly 90% of their testosterone is free, and not
bound by Sex Hormone Binding Globulin . . . the exact
opposite of humans! But get this . . . they produce about
the same amount every day as "us", around 7 –
10 mgs.
So
you see, the real secret to jacking your test levels is to
"free it up". And when you do this, look out,
because you’ll be "freeing up" your own, DNA
specific testosterone. Testosterone that is genetically
programmed to respond specifically to your androgen
receptors.
Bulls
don’t "juice" . . . because the best juice
"is already in em"... just like it’s already
in you!
So,
what’s the secret to freeing up your own juice? Simple.
All you’ve got to do is block Sex Hormone Binding
Globulin from attaching to the androgen receptor site. Do
this, and bingo . . . your test is "freed up,"
lots of it!
Announcing
the most effective test-osterone-freeing agent available
without a script, "Vyo-Dim".
Vyo-Dim’s
active ingredient is called di-indolymethane, a
phytochemical (plant chemical) that effectively blocks
SHBG from attaching to the androgen receptor by first
attaching to it. With no place "to land", SHBG
can no longer "bind testosterone." Isn’t this
a lot better way to elevate the most powerful muscle
building hormone known?
Forget
the shots, sublinguals, sprays, and pills and rub-ons
because the bull's already inside you... just waiting to
come .. out..raging!
All
you have to do is unlock the "testosterone gate"
with Vyo-Dim!.
And
here’s another huge benefit of Vyo-Dim. Vyo-Dim also has
very, very powerful anti-estrogenic properties because
di-indolymethane also blocks the estrogen molecule from
occupying its cell site! This is very similar to the
action of famous anti-estrogenic drugs like Novladex and
Clamid!
So
not only will lots of testosterone free-up, none of it
will convert to estrogen. This is a major, major problem
with prohormones and synthetic testosterone. Bitch tits
are even more embarrassing than being caught wearing your
girlfriend’s underwear . . . and thousands of guys risk
this shame just for a little muscle!
C’mon,
do it the smart, safe . . . but extremely effective way!
Be a bull, not a heifer. Vyo-Dim really is the best way to
go when you need to jack-up your test-osterone levels . .
. take it from one of the most dangerous and muscular
beasts in the world!

American Whey is an aggressive formula - spiked to maximise
nitrogen retention central to muscle growth. It has unusually
low molecular weight whey protein factions which give it a
vital and dynamic edge that few consumers understand.
Most protein
sales people prefer to quote their proteins "crude"
statistics, such as the protein percentage per weight of
product. This steers the consumer away from considering the
critical advantage implicit to low molecular weight whey
protein factions. The unusually low molecular weight of its
various whey protein factions makes Bronx All American Whey

Kevin Levrone has
also signed for the Australian GP
Word on the street is that Flex is going to come out of retirement, again. After Flex looked at the pictures of the competitors at the Ironman, the feeling came back to him, and he is ready to go back and compete! When asked at the MuscleMag booth over the Arnold Weekend, Ken 'Flex' Wheeler confirmed it, and said that he hopes for a special invite to the Mr. Olympia!

If Flex wants to
compete again he better put on some size. Here he is dwarfed by Rico
McClinton and Ronnie Coleman
Shawn Ray, has teamed up with doll creator Chris Harrison. from Austin, Texas, to form the first bodybuilding doll, called a 'Bodybuilding Bobble'. You can shake it! This is the first in a series of Muscle Bobble dolls! I must get one!

The Shawn Ray doll
is sure to overtake Barbie this year!
In a terrible setback to his 2002 career plans, Milos Sarcev severely tore his left quadriceps on January 11 while performing hack squats. Sarcev, who has competed in an IFBB record amount of contests, had surgery on his leg to repair the damage on January 18, but hopes to make a speedy recovery, perhaps even in time to enter the Night Of Champions on May 18.

Kevin Levrone has been contracted to compete at the Australian Pro Grand Prix in Melbourne on the 16th of March When I queried as to why Lee Priest isn't competing here, it seems that he can't get a visa to enter his country of birth. Strange.
