SABBA SA TITLES
The SABBA SA titles on the 8th of September was a great success with 26 competitors. Australian Muscle sponsored athlete Keith Long won the tall class open and just missed out on the overall to a terrific Jason Bednarz, the short class winner. The highlight of the show though was 48 year old Kym Johncock who won the
Men's Master class. Kym was one of the most ripped bodybuilders I have witnessed. This was Kym's last SA contest as he plans to retire after one last attempt at the Masters Mr Universe Title.
Check out all the results and pictures on the Contest Results Page on
Australian Muscle Home Page.

SA DOMINATES THE NABBA AUSTRALIA
South Australia was the top state at the NABBA Australia Titles in Sydney on the 23rd of September. SA had 6 first place trophies and two overalls with Stella
Dynan winning the Overall Figure and 48 year old sensation Kym Johncock winning the Overall Men's titles. Other South Australian winners were Jason Bednarz (Open Short), Irma Mathew (over 35 figure), Leigh Jarret (tall figure), and Keith Long (open tall). Mike Hambour placed second in the novice and Diane Ciampa was third in Figure Class 2.
The team selected to represent Australia at the Universe in London on the 6th of October was also totally South Australian with Kym Johncock, Stella Dynan, and Keith Long selected. Talk about an excited bodybuilder, Keith was rapt to be on his way to his first Mr Universe contest.

INBA SA Titles
Wow, what a show this was! A great new
venue, a sell out crowd of 400 people, two international guest posers,
and 27 high quality competitors, the INBA SA Natural Titles had it
all. The Norwood Concert Hall was a great venue with enormous
backstage facilities and classy seats and good lighting and sound.
This is a venue that I will definitely use again.
Ms Australia and Natural Olympia winner, Kim Knot opened the show with
a dazzling routine that had the crowd roaring it's approval. Kim is
definitely the consummate professional and puts on a great show, and
boy was she in shape. There were full classes in just about all
categories. I will have all results up on the contest results page
soon.
Danny Chau, the INBA Mr Australia and Natural Olympia winner was the
second guest poser. Danny was in excellent condition and had the crowd
mesmerised with a five minute routine that was totally awesome. Danny
was instore at Australian Muscle on Saturday the 6th of October and
was a true gentleman. He spoke to everyone who came into the shop and
presented himself like a true proffessional. Thank You Danny for a
great effort.

Forskolin, What The Heck?
Despite the weird name, Forskolin is not what they remove from the baby during circumcision.
Forskolin has been found to have benefits as a bronchodilator (thus it may be helpful with asthma and wheezing) and as an inflammatory. It's also been shown to lower blood pressure, enhances the strength of heart muscle contractions, and to prevent blood clotting.
What has this got to do with building muscle and losing fat, I hear you say? It was during trials for the above ailments that it was discovered that forskolin is an effective thermogenic. Now you are interested! To better understand it's effects as a fat burner, let's review how this herbal is supposed to work.
Forskolin enhances one very important enzyme in the body known as adenylate cyclase, which in turn causes a cascade of hormonal and enzyme reactions resulting in fat being burned for energy. This enzyme, when stimulated, enhances the production of cyclic AMP, which in turn activates an enzyme known as protein kinase (a building type of enzyme). Protein kinase, in turn, activates hormone sensitive lipase (which is involved in the breakdown of triglycerides) to stimulate the release of fatty acids from body fat. These liberated fatty acids from body fat can then be burned for energy, thus helping you lose weight.
Forskolin is also known to stimulate the thyroid (specifically, in stimulating the production of T3). The thyroid, of course, is the master gland for deciding metabolism. If you're unlucky enough to have a slow thyroid, you'll have a much harder time shedding fat. On the other hand, if you have an overactive thyroid, you'll be able to eat like a horse and stay ripped.
In short, forskolin burns fat through two different pathways: causing the body to burn fat for energy and enhancing thyroid function. Sounds good. The only problem is that not many products contain forskolin. The only one I have is Meta-Burn by MRM.

Recording Your Workouts
One of the best ways to continually make progress in your training is to record your workouts. Writing down each workout lets you know not only where you are at but where you are going. It's important to record the poundage that you used along with the number of sets and reps that you performed.
Each workout I do, I try to better the last workout by doing either more reps or more weight. Although it may not always be possible to make every workout better than the last one, having the intention of making that happen is the best way to make continual progress.
Three time Mr. Olympia winner Frank Zane was always a big believer in recording his workouts. Frank would plan each year out, culminating with a peak at the Mr. Olympia contest in the fall. Throughout the year, Frank would look at the previous year's workout journal and try to improve on that. If his workouts were heavier and stronger than last years, Frank knew he was right on track to improving his physique for this years contest.
Dorain Yates is another bodybuilder who also believes in writing down each one of his workouts in a training diary. In his excellent book, "Blood and Guts", Dorian writes that his training log gives him feedback as to which exercises, sets, reps and weights are working or not working. He also says that his training logs have become a blueprint on what works and what doesn't for his body.
If you haven't started using a training log yet, I highly recommend that you start. Just buy a small notebook and throw it in your gym bag. Write down the exercises you use, how much weight you are using, the amount of reps and sets that you utilize.
Write it down, you won't be sorry!

ECDY-20
by MRM
|
|

|
ECDY-20™ is a polyhydroxylated sterolic invertebrate growth hormone naturally derived from plants. It is a NATURAL, non-hormonal, anabolic supplement. The active anabolic ingredient in ECDY-20™ is the known steroid, 20-hydroxyecdysone. This remarkable plant extract from Rhaponticum carthamoides has been proven in numerous clinical studies to be more anabolic than methandrostenolone (Dianabol), with no androgenic or other undesirable side effects.
ECDY-20™ activity dramatically increases nitrogen retention as well as protein synthesis at the cellular level. To maximize the effects of ECDY-20™, it is recommend that you increase your daily protein intake to 2.0-2.5 g/kg body weight while using this nutritional supplement. Clinical investigations have reported that increased nitrogen retention along with intense weight training will stimulate muscle growth and burn fat more effectively (up to 20 times) than weight training alone.
20-Hydroxyecdysone has been clinically reported to produce significant anabolic (muscle growth) effects in elite athletes while also increasing strength and endurance. It is also indicated that 20-hydroxyecdysone prevents the breakdown of hard-earned muscle mass of athletes during heavy lifting and intense workouts. This is the same exact ingredient that the former Soviet Union decided to use as a way to enhance their athlete's performances while beating the drug tests.

Flex Wheeler made it official that he will be retiring for good, and will not compete in this years Olympia and this time he means it. Sporting one of the greatest physiques ever in the sport, Wheeler has won nearly every title possible in the IFBB, except Mr. Olympia, though he has finished runner-up at the show three times. According to sources, Wheeler cited health, his spiritual beliefs and his family as reasons for retiring from competitive bodybuilding. Wheeler gave the following statement: "It is not true that my retirement is related to any health problems or concerns. My strong religious beliefs now preclude me from pursuing a career as a professional bodybuilder, and that is the only reason why I am retiring from the sport."
Lee Priest, another qualifier for the contest, has decided to skip the Mr. Olympia this year. Priest said that it has nothing to do with the bacterial infection in his heart that he suffered earlier in the year. "I just don't have the means to put everything I have into the contest. If I can't give it my all and ensure I'm going to be in the best shape possible, then I let myself down and my fans."
According to an article in the September 20th edition of the Los Angeles Times newspaper, the International Olympic Committee Executive Board "denied official recognition" to the IFBB during a meeting yesterday in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Last year at the Ms Olympia, the IFBB chose a lightweight, Andrulla Blanchette, and heavyweight, Valentina Chepiga, champion and left the two women sharing the sport's most prestigious title. To no one's surprise, a few claws were drawn, and the two Ms. O's each claimed preeminence. Not this year. The IFBB has wisely decided to name an overall champion, though they'll retain the two weight classes, leaving a final posedown to determine the top bod, which is, after all, what the competitors and fans want
I found an
interesting site where many bodybuilding identities are interviewed.
This months guest is Flex Wheeler in a very frank and open interview.
