Q: Any tips on shopping during a pre contest diet?
A: There are many ways to offset the some times high cost of food while
getting ready for a contest. Try to buy everything in bulk. I buy hake in
5kg boxes from the fish wholesalers. I used to get my eggs from
wholesalers as well. Golden Eggs sell "ugly" eggs real cheap. These are
eggs which are not suitable for general sale because they might be mis
shapen or have discoloured shells. Some egg wholesalers will also sell
bladders of egg whites, but these usually have to be pre ordered. I also
used to get into an agreement with my local butcher where he would set the
price of my chicken for the duration of the diet in exchange for my
loyalty. It doesn't hurt to ask.
Q: Chicken breasts can be very dry especially when you have to eat them
day in, day out. Is there anything I can do to make them easier to eat?
A: Yes. When I ordered my chicken from the butcher, I would get him to
mince it up. I then used the mince to make patties which are easier to
cook and definitely easier to eat. In the first half of the diet, add a
tablespoon or two of Chicken Tonight Lite into the mix. This gives the
patties a bit of extra flavour and moisture, but remember to cut this out
about 6 weeks from the show.
Q: Can I use herbs and spices?
A: Most certainly. Avoid salt, but mixed herbs added to most things is a
blessing. Also when cooking the fish, I would sprinkle a product called
Fish Coat on the fillets and dry fry them in a non stick pan. This gave
the fish a nice spicy taste.
Q: Can I use the pre packaged vegetables and instant rices now
available?
A: Yes. It has been proven that the frozen vegetables can contain more
goodness than some of the fresh ones. This is because they are snap frozen
at the time of picking whereas it has been shown recently that some of the
fresh produce actually is not that fresh at all. Not only that, they are
usually chopped up ready to go. As for the instant rice's now available.
They are definitely more convenient but they are more expensive too. Also
make sure that you get either brown or basmati rice as these are low GI
and read the label to ensure that there are no oils added.
Q: How can I work out the protein value in foods?
A: There is an excellent web site I recently stumbled on,
www.calorieking.com.au . This
free site has the nutritional value of just about every food you can think
of. Just enter in the weight of your chicken breast and bingo, the whole
nutritional breakdown is revealed, beautiful! If you don't have a
computer, go buy one. There is no reason why in 2008 you do not have
access to a computer.
Q: I've been on my pre contest diet for 4 weeks now and am starting to
feel tired, irritable, and am constantly hungry. Not only that, I'm sick
to death of chicken and broccoli. Is this normal reactions during a pre
contest diet?
A: YES!
Two competitors come into Australian Muscle and we ask
them both the same question, "how's the diet going?"
Competitor #1: "Great! I feel fine, looking
forward to the show." Competitor #2:"I feel like crap. I got no energy, I'm
irritable, and I'm starving all the time. I feel like puking every time I
look at my food!"
Fast forward to competition day. Competitor #1 finished
last, Competitor #2 wins.
I hope you enjoy this months issue.
Train hard,
Kim.

Milk proteins are best for building
muscle mass.
This study examined the effect of consuming a soy or a (dairy) milk
protein supplement on muscle protein kinetics after resistance exercise
in healthy young men. Results clearly showed that to gain muscle mass,
milk proteins beat soy hands down.
Protein kinetics is the flux of amino acids incorporated into the muscle
for the synthesis of new protein. This was measured by arterial-venous
amino acid balance and muscle fractional synthesis rates within the
thigh muscles of young men before and after they consumed a milk or
a soy protein supplement after a leg workout.
The consumption of the milk protein supplement resulted in an overall
greater net balance (gain) in muscle protein. Protein synthesis rates
within the muscle itself were also greater after milk protein consumption
compared to soy. After calculating the net muscle gain, these results
suggest that if this strategy was carried out after each workout for
10 weeks, the milk protein would ensure a gain in muscle mass almost
double that obtained from soy.
Your entire body is made from protein which is derived completely from
the foods you consume every day. Premium proteins make a premium physique.
Dairy milk proteins appear to be the best at promoting muscle anabolism
and growth after weight training. Learn how to optimize muscle gains
from weight training by selecting the right proteins.

Food Myths Exposed
1. Potatoes make you fat - false
It was once thought that the key to weight loss was eliminating all high
carbohydrate foods, including pasta, rice and potatoes. We now know that
carbohydrates are the body's preferred energy source. Eating a potato,
or any type of carbohydrate rich food, won't automatically make you
fatter. You should, however, be careful of the topping you choose (for
example, butter and sour cream are high in fats). Potato=good, potato
with sour cream=bad. Get the picture?
2. Food combining should be avoided - false
There are plenty of crash diets based on the belief that the digestive
system can't tackle a combination of foods or nutrients. Commonly,
carbohydrates and proteins are said to 'clash', leading to digestive
problems and weight gain. The opposite is often true. Foods eaten
together can help the digestive system. For example, vitamin C in orange
juice can increase iron absorption from a meal like chicken or beef.
Very few foods are purely carbohydrate or purely protein, most are a
mixture of both. The digestive system contains enzymes that are
perfectly capable of breaking down the foods we eat.
3. Breakfast should consist of fruit only - false
There is no evidence that eating only fruit at breakfast has any health
or weight loss benefits. Most fruits are not very high in complex
carbohydrates, which the body needs after an all-night fast. They are a
good source of fibre and vitamins. Cereal foods (especially whole grain
varieties) like bread, crumpets, muffins and breakfast cereals are a
much better source of carbohydrates to get you going in the morning.
4. There are some magical foods that cause weight loss - false
Some foods, such as grapefruit or kelp, are said to burn off body fat.
This is not true. Dietary fibre comes closest to fulfilling this wish
because it provides a feeling of 'fullness' with minimal kilojoules.
High fibre foods such as fruit, vegetables, whole grain breads and
cereals, and legumes also tend to be low in fat.
5. Drinking while you are eating is fattening - false
The theory behind this misconception is that digestive juices and
enzymes will be diluted by the fluid, resulting in slowed digestion and
excess body fat. There is no scientific evidence to back this up. In
fact, evidence suggests that drinking water with your meal actually
speeds up digestion. Kilojoule-heavy drinks such as alcoholic beverages
can be fattening if consumed in excess, but drinking them with meals
doesn't make them more so.
The key to weight loss
Suggestions for safe and effective weight loss include:
Don't crash diet. You'll most likely regain the lost weight very, very
quickly. Aim for small, slow losses of around one kilogram per week or
less.
Cut down on dietary fats, especially saturated fat.
Cut back on refined carbohydrates.
Increase your intake of fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grain foods.
Consume less alcohol.
Eat less takeaway and snack foods.
Exercise for approximately 30 minutes at least a few times every week.
Introduce more movement into your day - try to accumulate 30 minutes of
walking daily.
Don't eliminate any one food group - choose from a wide range of foods
every day instead and prefer 'whole', less processed foods.
Have a regular pattern of eating and stick to it.
Things to remember
Overweight and obesity are caused by eating more food than your body
needs.
Crash diets have promoted many unhealthy misconceptions about weight
loss. In most cases the weight lost on crash diets is regained within
five years.
Beta-alanine boosts
performance in high intensity exercise
A recent study completed by Belgium scientists has
shown that beta-alanine increased muscle carnosine levels and delayed
the onset of fatigue during repeated bouts of high intensity exercise.
Supplementation with beta-alanine, 4.8 grams per day (4 weeks) provided
an improvement in total work performed and delayed the onset of fatigue
in a group of athletic males performing maximal effort resistance
exercise. However, supplementation had no effect on isometric strength
or 400 meter sprint performance.
The athletic performance studies with beta-alanine show that this
supplement is specifically a real performance-enhancer in the weight
room. Athletes that lift weights to build strength and muscle mass
should consider using a research proven beta-alanine formulation.

What is the best way to take
l-glutamine to gain muscle?
To build a lean muscular physique that excels in
athletic performance, a quality supply of glutamine is essential.
The amount of glutamine within muscle governs protein synthesis rates
and contractile protein mass. This amino acid is also the primary fuel
of the immune system as well as supplying the indispensable precursors
for antioxidant protection. Glutamine has been shown to regulate the
expression of many genes related to muscle metabolism, signal
transduction, immune defense and cellular repair. Thus, the role of
glutamine in building a premium physique goes beyond that of a simple
metabolic fuel or protein precursor as sports scientists previously
assumed.
Research still hasn't been able to determine an amount that will
optimize results from exercise. However, we do know that periods of
intense metabolic stress such as exercise training and dieting easily
outstrip the body's synthesis capabilities for this amino acid. That's
why I believe that the harder you train and diet, the more L-Glutamine
you need.
To maximize muscle gains, aim for 20-30 grams per day of L-Glutamine.
This should be taken in divided doses throughout the day. I'd also
ensure that two of these servings as taken 30 minutes before and after
training. Mix two teaspoons (10 grams) into 300ml of water, juice or add
to products such as your Whey Protein.
How Much Protein?
Q: Is the old "2 grams of protein per kilo of body
weight" rule still good? I hear some people say we need less and some
recommend more.
A: For a 100kg lean male, 300 grams of protein per day would be the
minimum. For about most of the population, 3 grams per kilo is good for
mass gains. It can make a huge difference. Personally, every person I
know who has serious mass, consumes up to or more than 3g of protein per
kilo of bodyweight.
The Best Way to Use Creatine
Q: Creatine has been around forever now and
studied to death, so what are your current creatine use guidelines?
A: Creatine is one of those things that works best the first time you
use it. It's like sex: You remember it more the first time.
I still believe in the loading protocol. Many of those who suggest
against loading are basing their suggestions on studies that used very
wimpy training programs. These wimp programs didn't need a creatine
loading program.
The advanced trainer should take a small dose (5 grams) of creatine
pre-workout and a small dose post-workout.
By the way, most of the so-called "side effects" of creatine, like gut
upset, were caused by using cheap forms of creatine that contained heavy
metals. For example, some of the Chinese creatines were analyzed and
shown to be 97% creatine and 3% heavy metals.
I've never seen cramping, bloating, diarrhea etc. from a good quality
creatine (unless of course you take way too much.). There is a reason
why some brands are more expensive than others.....Quality!!
Long-term, high-dose creatine has no adverse
effects on kidney function
Over 200 studies have shown that creatine supplementation enhances
athletic performance. Despite an abundance of research that shows the
effectiveness and safety of this supplement, some fallacies still exist.
One of these is an unfounded concern about creatine's effect on kidney
function, particularly with long-term use.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of creatine
supplementation on renal (kidney) function in healthy males (18-35 years
old) during exercise training. A randomized, double-blind,
placebo-controlled trial was performed. All participants were randomly
allocated to receive treatment with either creatine monohydrate
(approximately 10 grams a day for 3 months) or placebo (sugar).
All subjects undertook moderate intensity aerobic training, three
40-minute workouts per week. Serum creatinine and urinary sodium and
potassium were determined at baseline and at the end of the study.
Another marker of kidney function, Cystatin C was also assessed prior
to, during and after the supplementation/training program.
Results showed absolutely no differences between the groups in any of
the variables assessed. This lead the researchers to concluded that
long-term, high-dose creatine supplementation does not provoke any renal
dysfunction in healthy males undergoing exercise training. Another
interesting finding was that, according to the data, exercise training
actually improved kidney function.

The myth about creatine, dehydration and muscle
cramps is put to rest
Creatine supplement sales exceeded 400 million dollars in 2004. Over 200
studies have shown that creatine supplementation enhances athletic
performance. Despite its popularity and effectiveness, some fallacies
still exist about this supplement. One of these is an unfounded concern
about muscle cramps and dehydration.
Although, a number of published studies have refuted these claims
directly, a position statement by the American College of Sports
Medicine (ACSM) in 2001 advised individuals who are over weight and
exercising intensely in hot environments, to avoid creatine
supplementation.
However, recent reports now suggest the exact opposite. That is,
creatine may enhance performance in hot and or humid conditions by
maintaining hematocrit, aiding thermoregulation and reducing exercising
heart rate and sweat rate. Creatine may also positively influence plasma
volume during the onset of dehydration.
Creatine supplementation in the heat does not promote any additional
risk to healthy people. The ACSM should get with the latest research and
report the facts to the public.

Increase Your Testosterone
Naturally.
If there is one substance that could be considered
the "holy grail" of muscle growth, testosterone would be
it. Quite simply, testosterone is the most important muscle-building
hormone in your body and is one of the limiting factors that determines
how much muscle you can ultimately build. Here is just a small handful
of the many amazing benefits that increased testosterone levels will
provide you with:
Increased muscle size and strength
Decreased body fat levels
Increased sex drive and sexual endurance
Improved mood
Decreased levels of "bad" cholesterol
Below are 10 simple steps to naturally raise your testosterone levels
to help you achieve all of these incredible benefits. While these
steps will not result in "steroid-like" muscle gains, they
will definitely contribute to your overall results:
Use compound exercises as the cornerstone of your workouts such as
squats, deadlifts, bench presses, rows, chin-ups, dips, lunges and
military presses. These exercises will place your muscles under the
greatest amount of stress in the gym and will force your body to increase
testosterone production.
Always train with 100% effort and intensity. If you want to see real
muscle gains, you must be willing to push yourself to the limit in
the gym. Again, greater muscular stress in the gym translates to higher
testosterone output.
Train your legs equally as hard as your upper body. As you may already
be aware, intense leg training can actually stimulate growth in your
chest, back and arms. This is due in part to the increase in testosterone
that leg training induces.
Increase your Essential Fatty Acid consumption. EFA's from sources
such as peanuts, avocadoes, fish and healthy oils like flax seed,
olive and canola are a great way to naturally boost testosterone levels.
Reduce your intake of soy. Soy protein raises the body's levels of
estrogen (the main female hormone) and this has a direct negative
effect on testosterone levels.
Limit your consumption of alcohol. Alcohol has been shown to have
quite a dramatic effect on testosterone levels, so try to limit your
"binge drinking" nights and keep your alcohol consumption
in moderation.
Increase your dietary intake of cruciferous vegetables. Broccoli,
cauliflower, radishes, turnips, cabbage and brussel sprouts have all
been shown to dramatically reduce estrogen levels, thereby raising
testosterone.
Lower your daily stress levels. Being overly stressed stimulates the
release of "cortisol", a highly catabolic hormone that will
cause your testosterone levels to drop.
Increase your sexual activity. Sexual stimulation causes the body
to increase the production of oxytocin which increases endorphin production
(the "feel-good" chemical), and this also raises testosterone.
Make sure to get adequate sleep every night. A lack of sleep contributes
to cortisol production, and this will lower your testosterone levels.
Start implementing these techniques on a consistent basis and you
should experience a noticeable increase in your muscle size and strength
gains.
5 Reasons Soy Sucks
Q: Soy protein is touted as a health food. What
do you think?
A: Soy is for dorks. That's what I think. But people love lists, so
here are five reasons not to eat soy:
Reason 1 — Toxicity: Soy increases your toxic load. It's one of the
most sprayed crops. Their high content of pesticides increases your
ever-increasing toxic load. In addition, aluminum content skyrockets
in processing.
Reason 2 — Potential hypothyroidism: Soy contains
goitragens, which are compounds that lead to hypothyroidism.
Reason 3 — Blocking mineral absorption: Soy has a high content of
phytates, which are known to inhibit the absorption of both macro-minerals
(i.e. calcium) and trace minerals (i.e. zinc). The good news is that
meat consumption blocks phytates. If you're going to eat tofu, make
sure to eat some meat (ironically) during the same meal.
Reason 4 — Link to Attention Deficit Disorder: Soy-based infant formulas
are linked to ADD. They contain 80 times more manganese than breast
milk. Too much manganese content is linked to neurotoxicity.
Reason 5 — Increased cardiovascular load: Hemaglutinin is found in
soybeans. This compound is known to make red blood cells aggregate,
therefore increasing your cardiovascular load.
If you're not convinced, read Dr. Kaayla Daniel's
book, The Whole Soy Story. The information and research provided will
blow you away.

It's odd that we just don't talk about Branched Chain
Amino Acids (BCAA's) much.
That's too bad, because BCAA's are something that every lifter should be
taking, if not daily, then at least during very specific training
cycles.
For those of you who have forgotten, the branched chain amino acids are
named leucine, isoleucine, and valine. What sets them apart from other
amino acids is that they have some very specific, very special
properties:
• BCAA promote protein synthesis in muscle.
• BCAA taken during training have been shown to increase both growth
hormone and insulin, thus increasing anabolism and anti-catabolism.
• BCAA, unlike other amino acids, are used to provide energy.
• A 1992 Italian study showed that BCAA taken prior to a workout not
only prevented a decrease in post-workout Testosterone levels, but
caused it to increase.
• BCAA have been shown to decrease post-workout soreness.
• BCAA, according to a 1997 Italian study published in Medicina Dello
Sport, when taken 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after a workout, were
shown to increase lean body mass and improve strength in the bench press
and squat.
• BCAA have been shown to increase exercise endurance, especially
exercise conducted in high temperatures.
• As little as 4 grams of BCAA can kick start the body from a catabolic
state to an anabolic state.
Obviously, we should all be using BCAAs!
The only reasons why you might not have wanted to
take them, prior to now, is the prohibitively high cost.
Well, scratch that reason off your list, because we're
puff-our-chest-out proud to introduce Biotest Branched-Chain Amino Acid
Tablets!
Each serving (3 tablets) contains the following:
900 mg. of L-isoleucine
1620 mg. of L-leucine
1080 mg. of L-valine
That's a ratio of 1.0 to 1.80 to 1.20, which you exercise physiologist
types will recognize as the exact ratio found in muscle.

GRIPMASTER conditions the fingers, hand, wrist and
forearm with a unit you can carry in your pocket.
Professional sports trainers, athletes, and therapists use GRIPMASTER
because of its unique ability to provide an effective isolated
resistance workout.
All athletes have a common goal to develop and maintain strength,
control, endurance, coordination, and dexterity to ensure their
competitive edge.
GRIPMASTER is here to help you reach and accomplish your goals.
HOW IT WORKS
The wrist (1) and finger (2) flexors are the longer muscles of the
forearm and wrist (extrinsic).
These muscles lie in the forearm and their tendon components cross the
wrist and attach to the bones to move the fingers and wrist.
Exercise these for greater grip power and endurance.
The smaller muscles of the hand (intrinsic), lie at the base of the
thumb (3), small finger (4) and across the hand (5 & 6).
They provide the finer movements, coordination, and control of the
fingers and do not cross the wrist.
The GRIPMASTER works to improve strength, endurance and coordination of
all the muscles within the hand and most muscles and tendons in the
forearm.
The PRO is our most advanced hand exerciser. It's
ideal for professional athletes and motivated individuals seeking
maximum performance. The PRO expands on the ingenious design of
Gripmaster providing serious athletes with the most advanced technical
hand exerciser in the world. Like Gripmaster it isolates and strengthens
each finger individually, helping you improve your overall strength,
endurance, and dexterity. Available in two different models of graduated
resistance: Extra-Heavy and Heavy.

Cairns Magistrates Court of importing prohibited goods under
section 233B(1)b of the Customs Act 1901 and possession of
prohibited goods contrary to s233(1)d of the Customs Act 1901.
He was penalised $7500 and ordered to pay $3586 in court costs.
The Customs investigation began on 12 March 2007 when Customs
officers at the Sydney international mail centre intercepted a
package marked as food supplements addressed to Mr Highman.
The parcel was examined and found to contain thirty-six bottles
labelled as DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone).
DHEA is an androgenic steroid that cannot be imported into
Australia without a permit from the Therapeutic Goods
Administration.
Each bottle contained 120 capsules with 100mg of DHEA in each
capsule.
As a result of this detection Customs investigators executed
search and seizure warrants on Mr Highman's residence in Kuranda
on 22 March 2007.
A further 42 bottles containing a total of 116.9 grams of active
ingredient DHEA were found at the premises.
Customs National Manager Investigations, Richard Janeczko, said
that this penalty sent a signal to the public that steroid
smuggling was a serious offence.
"Australia has strict border controls for steroids. Customs
officers remain ever-vigilant to ensure that the illegal
importation of steroids is detected and where appropriate
investigated and prosecuted."
"Air and postal cargo, which is favoured by smugglers of such
goods is subject to a very high level of scrutiny, and physical
inspection by Customs. This results in a high level of protection
for Australia against the import of such goods ," Mr Janeczko
said.

Johnnie Jackson at the 2008 USPF
National Powerlifting Championships
IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Johnnie Jackson competed in the 2008 United
States Powerlifting Federation (USPF) National Powerlifting
Championships in Warwick, Rhode Island on June 29, 2009. Johnnie
entered the meet with goals of 900 lbs in the deadlift and 600
lbs in the bench press.
During the early morning weigh-in, there was a minor crisis as
the Inzer-designed bench press shirt did not meet USPF
regulations due to an open back. Johnnie was able to find an
alternate shirt for the meet and the crisis was averted.
Johnnie opened the bench press competition with a first attempt
of 465 lbs unaided by a bench shirt. His next two lifts were
disqualified although he was clearly able to handle the heavy
weight, including a 600 lb third attempt that was not allowed
due to a slight dip in his right elbow toward the end of the
lockout during which he strained his arm at the elbow.
Johnnie set a USPF World Record on his first attempt at deadlift
with a pull of 345 kgs (760 lbs). His second deadlift attempt
for 372.5 kg (821 lbs) was not allowed because he did not push
his hips forward at the top of the lift. His third and final
attempt at 345 kgs was abandoned in mid-lift by Johnnie after he
pulled his left hamstring
Titus and Ryan take a plea deal. No
trial.
The celebrity bodybuilder couple accused of murdering their
assistant will save the county the trouble of a trial. Craig
Titus and Kelly Ryan finalized a plea deal with prosecutors late
Friday afternoon, avoiding a trial set to begin Monday.
Over two years ago, police found the remains of Melissa James in
a burned- out car in the desert. Titus and Ryan fled the state
and changed their appearances, but were captured in
Massachusetts after a national manhunt.
The district attorney's office says it's a fair deal. It's one
both the victim's family and detectives in the case agree with,
because it makes Craig Titus admit to murder and his wife to
helping destroy evidence.
"I think both defendants recognize that a train was coming down
the tracks and either they resolved it today or we were going to
go to a jury trail and leave it up to a jury," said prosecutor
Robert Daskas.
With the couple both facing possible life sentences for murder,
Titus moved to save his wife.
"As we approached trial, Craig Titus became more and more
worried about the exposure his wife was going to have to first
degree murder," said Titus' attorney Marc Saggese.
Titus agreed to plead guilty to second degree murder in the
death of his live-in assistant Melissa James, along with
kidnapping and arson.
"He did accept responsibility and that is evidenced by his
entering into a guilty plea," said Saggese.
By admitting to the murder, Ryan was cleared of the charge and
given a plea deal of battery with a deadly weapon and first
degree arson.
"She was faced with more serious charges -- significantly more
serious charges. We feel that this is a fair resolution for
her," said Ryan's attorney Michael Cristalli.
She now faces no criminal liability in James' death. But with
overwhelming evidence, both had to admit to arson.
"We had strong evidence that they purchased lighter fluid that
was used to ultimately light the car with Melissa James in the
trunk," said Daskas.
The prosecutor says, while there are unanswered questions about
James' murder, details are finally coming out.
"We've always believed, and I think the guilty pleas reflects
that there was a confrontation between Kelly and Melissa and
that Craig intervened, and ultimately it was Craig Titus that
killed Melissa James," said Daskas.
Titus has asked to speak at his sentencing so he can apologize
to James' mother, who was once a close friend.
"He has never had an opportunity to talk to her or say he was
sorry or to discuss how this unfolded," said Saggese.
Titus faces 15 to 55 years in prison. He has already served two
and a half years. Kelly Ryan's attorney says he has asked to
argue for probation for her charges.
It's official – Lee Priest is back in
the IFBB, effective immediately.
"Yes, he's back in the IFBB," IFBB Professional League Chairman
Jim Manion said. "He's free to enter any contest, he's free to
guest pose. He has to sign his membership card but other than
that formality, which I'm sure he will do, he's officially
back."
Priest had been suspended by the IFBB since 2006, after choosing
to compete in another organization, the now defunct Pro Division
Inc. Priest had since reapplied for reinstatement. IFBB
officials had originally planned to put Priest's reinstatement
up for a vote on Olympia Weekend, but recently decided to
expedite that process in order to allow Priest a chance to
qualify for the 2008 Olympia. When the decision was put to a
vote, the committee voted overwhelmingly in Priest's favor, as
11 of 16 members voted to allow Priest's reinstatement.
"I think the timing was right," Manion said. "I think Lee has
been penalized long enough. He's made a lot of overtures
obviously to try to get back in the IFBB. He was probably going
to be allowed back in September, so we decided to let him get
back involved with the IFBB sooner. I'm sure he can't wait to
jump back on stage and get back into the action."
Priest had been very outspoken in his decision to leave the IFBB,
and, until recently, had been critical of officials for not
allowing his reinstatement. However, Priest's negative behavior
has improved greatly in recent months, which led officials to
believe the timing was right to allow Priest back in the IFBB.
"I think he made a bad decision [to leave the IFBB] and I think
he knows he made a bad decision," Manion said. "If he does break
the rules again this will be his last chance basically. But in
my heart I think he regrets it, so I don't think that will
happen again.
"The IFBB does not rely on one bodybuilder. One bodybuilder is
not going to make or break the IFBB. Our federation is much too
strong for that. Whether that be Lee Priest, who was suspended,
or Ronnie Coleman retiring, the IFBB will always be moving
forward."
Now that the path is cleared for Priest's return to competition,
expect to see him on stage at the Atlantic City Pro on September
12-13, where he will attempt to qualify for the 2008 Olympia.
You think you'd have that fixed
department!
Quote Of The Month.
"Telling someone to stop eating before they're satisfied is
like telling someone to stop having sex right before they
climax. That's not just a crude joke either. Appetite and the
pleasure we get from eating are classified as "sensual desires"
and fit into the same category as the sex drive."

Max's Muscle TV Series 2 Monday the 7th
of July at 8pm.
Muscle TV series 2 is being edited as we speak. The official
start date on Foxtel's Aurora channel is Monday the 7th of July
at 8pm.
Series 2 will be different than the first series in several
ways. We have done away with all the fluffy bits, back to the
basics with training nutrition and science.
We have filmed all the training segments and they have been
brutal. Congratulations and thanks to everyone that contributed.
Most will make to air, some may not. In the first series we
filmed the segments around the athletes, probably went a bit
soft to make sure everyone looked good. This time, it is all
real, Tony Doherty has really pushed the athletes to the brink
with no resting or re-shooting. Some people were fitter than
they looked and some had their fitness tested. Some were a bit
pale or ill at the end of their workout.
Tony have really emphasized good form, high intensity and
getting your mind into the muscle you are training.
Thanks to Max's and Keith at Kickstart media for their
encouragement and belief. I have had a blast filming and taken
some good hits for the show like being kicked , punched and
thrown out of the ring said Tony.
I hope you all enjoy the second series as much as we enjoyed
making it. Most of all I hope the training segments help
everyone to train smarter, harder and more efficiently.
Check out some of the new wallpapers. Thanks to one of our very
clever customers, Greg Harrison who had some spare time during
his lunch breaks.
